Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s a day late, but happy Thanksgiving! I’m spending it with some family and delicious food. I didn’t go Black Friday shopping today, but I’m in desperate need of a trip to the local Michaels. I need some more supplies to make my Christmas gifts. I’m thankful for my family, friends, and all of the opportunities life has given me. I’m so fortunate to have what I have after listening to some of my friends’ life stories lately. Sometimes you take the little things for granted.

I’ve knitted 2/8 Christmas gifts for my friends so far. And since it is now appropriate to listen to Christmas music, I have a feeling a lot of it will be the background noise for my gift knitting. Happy holidays!

Is it too late to start looking for Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza/Winter Solstice gift patterns?

I just started this morning :/

Firstly, it’s had enough finding time to knit. I’m going to get myself in trouble with all of this knitting I need to do with all of these group projects due and finals coming up. With any luck I’ll finish all my friends’ gifts by the time we come back to school in February after Winter break/session. Plus, I need to make some gifts for family members. Why did I take up such a time consuming craft?

Secondly, it’s pretty difficult to decide what to make. It can’t take too much time because I’ve got so much other knitting to do and it can’t be too difficult because I don’t want to have to start it over a million times. And I want to give everyone something different that they would each appreciate.

Thirdly, what the heck do I knit for non-significant other male friends? What kind of knitwear says, “I’m glad that we’re friends but it’s not like I slaved over this for you.” It doesn’t help that guys are harder to read than girls. Maybe I’m over thinking this…

I need to figure this out by Wednesday because I want to go buy the supplies over Thanksgiving break. Wish me luck!

Do you like to make all your Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza/Winter Solstice gifts? Are you having the same problem as me?

5 Outfits I’m Proud Of

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you might have seen my occasional outfit of the day posts. I’m a little addicted to PicStitch, too. I like to document my craziest/best outfits. I tend to also wear makeup on these days. It’s a rare occasion. Here’s a few from the past few months!Trying to be professional: H&M Polkadot Dress, Hotkiss Black Flates, Vintage Blazer (’twas my mother’s), Time Turner necklace (made from a chain from another necklace and Time Turner keychain from Harry Potter World)

Just another school day: Vintage Black and White Floral Dress, Forever21 Sweater, Thrifted Grey Socks (don’t worry they were new!), Vintage Brown Shoes, Knitted Collar (made my me)

Not my birthday suit: H&M Striped Sweater, Teal Pants (from TJ Maxx), Black Combat Boots (from Kohls), Time Turner Necklace

Hippie for the day: Forever21 Top (thrifted at Goodwill), Vintage Floral Maxi Skirt, American Eagle Necklace, Woven Belt

Show off: Knitted sweater (by me), Banana Republic Black Tank Top, Wet Seal Lace and Floral Skirt, H&M Leggings, Vintage Maine Woods Boots

If for some reason you haven’t noticed, I love thrift shopping for both awesome vintage finds and clothes that I could buy in stores for much cheaper. I love mixing and matching vintage and new pieces. Maybe I should do Outfit of the Day posts everyday?

Off and On the Needles

Just a little update on the Simple Cable Cowl I finished knitting!

I recently realized that I have way too many blue-ish and purple-ish scarves. It’s kind of ironic that I don’t have any scarves in warmer colors because orange is my favorite color. I need to knit myself a red or orange scarf now. Well after this other project I just casted on today.

I’m now working on a new knitting adventure: my first pair of mittens/gloves. I’m making these Flip-Top Mittens by The Purl Bee. The pattern is actually a variation on some fingerless gloves and I think I’m going to combine the patterns to make flip-top fingerless glove mittens. I only knitted a few rows today and I’ll probably be knitting a few more rows before bed tonight. (Oh and I’m making them in purple. Why is everything I make purple?) I just have a marketing exam to study for.

Wow, so it snowed today. It’s November. It’s almost Christmas season. I need to start thinking about knitting Christmas gifts. I’m kind of enjoying knitting myself as of lately. It’s not something I do often. I’m not sure if I have time to knit all my gifts by December! I guess I’ll just have to make it work. :)
